What to expect if you hire us for your wedding day

Before booking

Before booking with us, we like to make sure that we’re a good match for each another - we’re going to be there throughout one of the most special days of your lives, so essentially we want you to like us and what we do!

We’re documentary photographers. That means that most of the time we tend to stay in the background, capturing your day as it unfolds in the most natural way that we can.

Our clients tend to be laid back and non traditional; if you don’t want tons of portraits, that’s absolutely fine or if you’re adventurous and want to hike up a mountain for photos, that’s cool, we love that too!

Don’t worry if you’re camera shy either, we’re 100% non judgemental and its a part of our job to help you feel at ease and to be comfortable with us and the cameras.

It’s your wedding day and it should wholeheartedly be about you as a couple, your family, your friends, the celebration of your love. We just want you to be in the moment, having the best day ever with your favourite people and we’ll be there in the background documenting it all for you.

When it comes to portraits, we will never boss you around or pressure you, if you don’t want lots of couple photos, that’s absolutely fine! We have some little prompts to help guide you but these are really just to bring out natural interaction between you both.

Our goal is for you to be able look back on your photos and to feel a reflection of your day within them.

After booking with us

You can be in touch with us as much or as little as you like, it’s not a problem.

We always recommend that you consider a pre-wedding shoot too as this gives us the chance to meet in person and for you to get more comfortable in front of the camera.

Around six weeks before your wedding day we’ll email you a details form. It will ask you for lots of info such as your timeline, contact details, a list for group shots and anything you might want to add. This ensures that we can be fully prepared for your day in advance.

The Wedding Day

Before the ceremony

We usually arrive a tad earlier to scope out the venue and normally we would start with getting ready photos, if that’s something that you would like covered.

We use the same vehicle so as long as you’re not too far apart from one another, we can cover the both of you during the morning preparations. It’s always lovely being able to look through your gallery seeing each other's pre-ceremony moments and what the other person was doing at the same time.

We’ll stay in the background for the most part of the morning, documenting what happens naturally without any direction.

TIP - When having hair/make-up done and getting ready, try to place yourself as close to a window as possible, natural light is our best friend and yours too!

The Ceremony

We’ll be there to capture your guests arriving and yourselves.

During the ceremony, one of us will be positioned near the front, the other towards the back - this means we’ll be able to cover the ceremony from different angles and perspectives.

TIP - During your first kiss, we suggest a 5 second count in your heads, that gives us plenty of time to get the perfect shot. Remember to breathe as you may be nervous now that you’re finally up there. So smile as much as you can, focus on each other and just enjoy it!

Confetti

We always ask our couples after they’ve walked down the aisle to try to hang back allowing ourselves the guests enough time to go outside and prepare for the confetti photos.

If you can, give a friend, family member, bridesmaid or groomsman the task to get it passed around to everyone (ask your florist to supply confetti if this is important to you - often nobody remembers to bring any!)

TIP - The more confetti, the better!! Just make sure it’s biodegradable.

Drinks Reception

This is the time when our documentary style really comes into play, getting all the action shots, the hugs, the laughs and all of the little moments that you may have missed.

Group shots

We really like to keep this part short and recommend a maximum of 10 groups (we always carry a copy of the group shot list on us).

Every posed group photo takes time away from the candid, real moments - we’d much rather be capturing your guests having fun and enjoying themselves!

With that said, they can be as formal or informal as you like, it’s completely up to you. You can always have more traditional photos with relatives and then some fun ones with your bridesmaids and groomsmen.

Couple Portraits

Usually straight after the group shots, we will steal you away for 10-15 minutes for some couple photos - this is a good chance for you both to have a small moment to yourselves and take in being newlyweds.

 The details

We document all the little details too - we know just how much time, effort and thought goes into it all.

Speeches

During the speeches one of us will focus on the wedding party, the other on your guests reactions. There’s usually lots of wonderful, genuine, emotional and sometimes funny expressions during the speeches as everyone starts to let loose.

Sunset portraits

We like to steal you away again for another 5-10 minutes in the evening around golden hour which is the hour just before sunset, if your day times well with this; the lighting is usually stunning and well worth it!

There’s also normally been a fair amount of merriment and celebrating prior to this so it can really make for some fun and relaxed images!

Party time

We don’t leave straight away after the first dance, we’re there to document some of the partying too!

The dance floor can have some really epic moments! Everyone often forgets all about us by this point so we can really get in there and capture all the drunken madness, the dance moves, the sillyness, the love and hugs!

After the big day

After your wedding we get a selection of 100+ preview photos over to you within a few days.

Your full wedding gallery will then be ready for you between 6-12 weeks depending on the time of year.

The gallery is password protected but can be shared with family and friends, you will also have the ability to make photos private for your eyes only. You will be able to download individual photos or the entire album, it’s your choice.

All images are provided in the highest resolution, in a range of colour and black & white. You can order albums and fine art prints with a variety of different options directly from the gallery. The entire process is handled by the award winning prints company Loxley Colour and sent straight out to you.

Your gallery will then remain online for two years and can be extended if needed.
